 Assistance to persons with Disability


Overview

 

To provide assistance to persons with a disability or families with a member suffering from a disability to render their residence adequate for the needs of their disability or to convert part of the existing premises so that the person with a disability lives an independent or semi independent manner  close to the family.

 

A person with a disability is a person who has a limited physical and mental ability, which effects in a substantial way one or more of his major vital activity.

 

This scheme combines the financial assistance with the needs of the person.  Hence, all this assistance will only be given according to the needs of the persons with the disability

 

Who Can Apply

 

 

Documents required

 

1.     Original marriage certificate of applicant.

2.     Original birth certificate of each applicant and of each child under 18 years of age living with applicant.

3.     If the applicant is widowed: the original death certificate of the spouse.

4.     Photocopy of Identity Card of each applicant and of each child under 18 years of age living with applicant.

5.     Photocopy of the Special Identity Card issued by the National Commission for Persons with Disability.

6a.    If the applicant is separated: a copy of the separation degree from the First Hall Civil Court.

6b.   If the applicant is bona fide de facto separated: the applicant must present proof that s/he is bona fide de facto separated.

7.      P3 / FS3 and a breakdown of income of each applicant of the preceding year of application showing the gross income, allowances, bonuses overtime etc.

8.      If the applicant is in receipt of children’s allowance, document from social security stating the total benefits of the past year.

9.     Documentation showing the Profit and Loss accounts, Balance Sheets, Stocks and Shares, Bank Books of the preceding year of application.

10.    If during any part of the preceding year of application, applicant was in receipt of Unemployment Benefit, documentation from the Social Security Department is required.

11.    A copy of the rent agreement or temporary emphyteusis or a copy of the contract of purchase of the mentioned property.

12.   Transfer and Liabilities of each applicant (which can be carried out by the Housing Authority).

13.     If the parent of the applicant died before November 1992, an official copy of the claim for accession is requested (which can be carried out by the Housing Authority).

14.    A recent medical certificate specifying the disability of the applicant.

15.    For lift installation/stair lift, applicant is to provide a quotation including accessories.

16.    Power of Attorney to allow person to sign contract under this scheme on behalf of applicant including photocopy of Identity Card of the same person.

 

An administrative fee of 20 is to be paid upon submission of application.

The maximum amount granted under this scheme for: 

 

·         Adaptation works, sum shall not exceed € 2,000

 

·         Stairlifts, the sum shall not exceed the sum of € 5,000;

 

·         Lifts in private blocks of apartments where there is a person with disability, assistance is given in terms of the share of the applicant and the sum shall not exceed € 5,000
